LAMP in CAPTCHA

April 23, 2007

Admittedly, this is a silly post.

Here in India, every once in a while people go crazy about idols drinking milk and sea water turn sweet.

So the other day I thought, for a fleeting moment, if people would mob a website that displayed a tech term as its CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) when I saw this….[see screenshot]

LAMP in a CAPTCHA

LAMP stands for Linux Apache PHP/Python/Perl. It is much revered by techies as the “LAMP stack” consisting of a solid OS kernel, the most widely used web server, a great database management system and three choices of powerful scripting languages. All open source and free!

Sometimes one also finds mention of the “SAMP stack” where Linux is replaced with Solaris, an equally capable operating system.

I saw that CAPTCHA and just thought I had to write a quick post about it.
